Steak & Mushroom Sauce
Steak & Mushroom Sauce Recipe
The combo of steak and veggies is something we both refused to eat as children, but now it is one of our favorite meals! We cook the steak and top it with a delicious sauce along with adding vegetables to the final plate. This combo gives us the perfect combination to tackle a variety of taste buds that are delicious when combined. Feel free to include what you desire to go with the steak & sauce however, we highly recommend the combo we love!
What you’ll need: (roughly 2 - 4 servings)
New york strip (2 pounds)
Mushrooms (1 cup, sliced)
Onions (3/4 of yellow onion)
Salt & Pepper
Wine (splash)
Whole milk (splash)
Brussel sprouts (2-4 cups)
Russet potato (2-4 whole potatoes)
Sour cream (as desired)
Chive (as desired)
Bacon (as desired)
Garlic (1/2 minced)
Butter (2 tbsp)
Thime (as desired)
Cooking Instructions:
Pre heat the oven to 375 degrees F
Poke holes in any potatoes you are making and place them in the oven. They will remain in the oven for one hour.
As the potatoes have been in the oven for about 30 mins, begin cooking everything else.
Salt and pepper the steak on the top, bottom and both sides (set aside).
Chop the base of the Brussel sprouts and cut them down the middle. Add salt, pepper, olive oil and mix it all together.
The Brussel sprouts cook for roughly 20 minutes so add to the oven with the potatoes when that amount remains.
Slice the onion and place them with butter in a pan at medium heat ensuring the butter has melted and the onions are somewhat soft.
Slice the mushrooms and place them in the same pan on the stove, let everything in the pan cook for 15 - 20 minutes (on medium - low as needed).
Add olive oil to another pan and grab the stakes that were set aside & place them on the stove at medium heat, flip them after 10 minutes.
Once flipped, let the steak cook for another 10 minutes with the lid on top both times.
The potatoes and Brussel sprouts will likely be done about 10 minutes before the sauce and steak but can be taken out of the oven to cool down (keep the Brussel sprouts covered).
Add desired flavoring to the pan on the stove still that has mushrooms, etc. and stir so it is a bit creamy (recommend to mix a dash of milk & wine)
Let the steak cool after both sides have been cooked, totaling 20 minutes
When the potato has cooled a bit, slice it in half and add desired flavoring (such as sour cream, bacon & chives as desired)
Once the steak is ready to eat, add the sauce & any sides you ended up creating.
